If you’re planning a trip and wondering where to stay in New Orleans, you have come to the right place! When I was searching for the perfect hotel and the perfect location, I quickly learned there is no better area to stay than the French Quarter.

The French Quarter is the historic center of New Orleans. It is the oldest part of the city with much of it built in the late 1700’s and is known for its beautiful architecture including iron balconies and colorful buildings.

The French Quarter holds many of the prime tourist attractions, which makes it the ideal area to stay if you’re looking to explore on foot.

To get the most of the experience staying in the area, I chose a historic hotel Place d’Armes Hotel.

This hotel has A LOT to offer. Along with an amazing location, the price is also exceptional. Compared to hotels on Bourbon street that can start over $200 a night, I found rooms at Place d’Armes for around $100 a night!

Believe me, whether you’re visiting New Orleans for the party, the food, the shopping, or the history – this is a wonderful hotel for your stay!

Choosing A Room

Place d’Armes is a historic hotel and the rooms are cozy and reflect the time in which the building was built. When deciding where to stay in New Orleans, I loved the idea of staying somewhere with some history.

When booking your room, make sure to check the type of room you are choosing. They offer inside rooms with no windows, exterior rooms with views of the courtyard or the French Quarter.

I initially booked a room that was inside and had no windows. While the room was clean and functional, after staying one night I decided it would be nice to have a window to soak up the Louisiana sunshine.

I made a quick call down to the front desk and was able to switch to a new room with a view of the courtyard for only $10 more per night. Definitely worth it in my opinion!

Amenities

The Place d’Armes Hotel has lovely amenities for you to enjoy during your stay.

There is a lush courtyard with seating and a pool area. During my stay there were many people who chose to spend the afternoon enjoying a drink or snack outside under the green canopy.

If you choose to rent a car, there is valet parking available right next to the hotel and makes it really convenient to get your car whenever you need it.

Another great feature is free WiFi to help you stay connected to your friends and family while away. This came in really handy when there was some rain during the stay that impacted my phone’s service.

A quick note for those with allergies: I always recommend taking extra precautions when staying in older, historic hotels. They can often have more concerns related to environmental allergies.
