Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, is an extraordinary place to visit!
Full of beautiful architecture, history, and art, Copenhagen has so much to offer it’s visitors.
It is hard to believe that this modern city was first founded as a Viking fishing village. It’s growth and influence is said to have come from it’s founding of institutions, armed forces and defenses.
The development of more information technology, clean technology, and pharmaceuticals have helped to propel Copenhagen to the modern city we see today.
Visiting is such as joy as it is a beautiful, clean city with an overwhelmingly polite and pleasant population. Also, theres no need to worry about communication, as the majority of people speak English perfectly.
As far as the weather, Copenhagen see’s somewhat temperate weather considering it’s latitude. Visitors can expect average temperature lows in the 30’s in the winter months and highs in the 70’s in the summer months.

Getting Around In Copenhagen
Even though Copenhagen is a large city, it is extremely easy to navigate. While staying in Copenhagen I mostly walked around to see the sights. I did occasionally take a cab if I was feeling a little tired or the weather was rainy.
If you want an easy way to get around to the sights, I highly recommend purchasing tickets for the hop-on hop-off tours of Copenhagen. It is the easiest way to see the city and be dropped off nearer to each location if walking isn’t the ideal choice for you or your travel companions.
Where To Stay In Copenhagen
While in Copenhagen I chose to stay in the lovely Copenhagen Marriott Hotel. It has a great location on the water with views of the canals. It isn’t exactly in the center of the city, but it was a relatively close walk to almost all of the sights.

The guide lead the group through the city on foot, talking about the history of the various places we were seeing. He explained major sites and made suggestions for places to go back and see. The hours really flew by.
I find walking tours to be a great way to first start seeing a city. They help get you acquainted with the area and the guide often gives suggestions for places to see while you’re there.
I strongly suggest doing this first thing when arriving in Copenhagen. Just don’t forget to bring tip money for your guide!
